Social Responsibility

The Half Moon Foundation is our way of giving back to the Jamaican people. Our investments and partnerships over the past 40 years have supported education, community service and environmental preservation. Our goal is to make a substantial and sustainable impact in the lives of our neighbouring communities. We have continually expanded our philanthropic efforts, thanks to our big-hearted guests, corporate support and fundraising events.

  1. We express our gratitude by repaying the community that supports us
  2. We develop and support educational and outreach programmes
  3. We protect the local environment with our sustainable approach and conservation efforts

HURRICANE RELIEF SUPPORT

Now that Hurricane Beryl has passed Jamaica, it is with grateful hearts, we take in our surroundings, amazed at the gift of being able to share the magic of Half Moon with you.

Let's spread the magic of Half Moon with our communities. Your Half Moon stay can make a difference to the Jamaican communities, which have been impacted by the recent passage of Hurricane Beryl. Travel with a purpose and let's work together to provide much needed relief for families.

Choose to pack for a purpose, by taking up to five pounds of supplies with you for community residents in need. Our Guest Dollar Donation Programme will also go towards providing much needed relief for families. Items you can take with you include:

  • Solar chargers
  • Rope
  • Bungee cords
  • Canned food
  • Work gloves
  • Baby supplies, especially diapers and formula
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Gently used clothes for men, women and children
  • School supplies for the September 2024/25 academic year such as crayons, notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers and tablets

If you’re in Jamaica and would like to make an in-kind donation, the aforementioned items along with bottled water and non-perishable food are welcome.

Education

Half Moon has adopted the Barrett Town All Age School, providing everything from a fully-equipped library to computers and classrooms. We also help students prepare for hospitality careers by offering a scholarship programme in hospitality management, work experience and a trainee management programme.

DONATE ONLINE to the Margaret "Peggy" Steuart scholarship fund, which is awarded to students of the University of the West Indies (UWI) in the hospitality and tourism programme.

Community Outreach

In addition to maintaining the Half Moon House at the SOS Children's Village, we've partnered with the Granville Place of Safety for Girls. Half Moon also supports charities for the elderly and the mentally ill.

Environmental Protection and Preservation

We're a long-time champion of the Montego Bay Marine Park and actively participate in World Wetlands Day and Earth Day programmes.
